Senior Faculty and Executive Staff
Joyce Magid, M.S., L.C.S.W., is Executive Director and Senior Trainer. A graduate of Queens College, SUNY Stony Brook School of Social Welfare, and the Gestalt Center of Long Island, she has maintained a private psychotherapy and supervision practice in Melville for more than 25 years.
 
Ruth Samuel, M.Ed., M.S., L.M.F.T., is a Co-Director of the Counseling Center in Whitestone, Queens. A GCLI graduate, Executive Staff member and Senior Trainer, she maintains a private psychotherapy and supervision practice in Queens, Manhattan, and New Jersey.
   

Peter Turkl, L.C.S.W., is a GCLI graduate, Faculty and Training Staff member. A graduate of Hunter College School of Social Work, he completed family and couples programs at Northport Hospital and Bronx State Hospital. He currently specializes in couples therapy, working with teenagers, young adults, and over the last four years in family businesses experiencing organizational and relationship conflicts. He maintains a private and supervision practice in New Jersery, NYC and Queens.

   

Phyllis Zaslav, M.S., MFT., is on the GCLI Executive staff and is a Senior Trainer and Faculty member. She is a GCLI graduate and Co-Director of the Counseling Center in Whitestone, Queens. She maintains a private psychotherapy and supervision practice in Queens and the East End of Long Island. She has published and lectured in the field of addictions, and is a licensed marriage and family therapist.

   
Carole Rose, L.C.S.W., is a GCLI graduate, Executive Staff member and Senior Trainer. A graduate of the Stony Brook School of Social Welfare, she maintains a private psychotherapy and supervisory practice in Port Jefferson.
         
Celeste Carlin, L.C.S.W., A.C.S.W., is a GCLI graduate, teacher/trainer and Executive Staff member. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University School of Social Work. She recently completed Navigating the Soul's Journey, a Certificate Training Program at the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine. Celeste maintains a private practice in Centerport.
         
John Bottone, LMHC, is a GCLI graduate, trainer, and Executive Staff member of GCLI. A graduate of Long Island University, he holds a Master's Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling. He has also trained at the Process Therapy Institute in New Haven, and is on the leadership and supervision staff at Shalom Mountain Retreat and Study Center. He maintains a private practice in Commack, Long Island specializing in working with men, couples and leading intensive retreats.
         
 
Administrative Director
Helaine Loeb, administration director, has been with GCLI since its inception. She is the backbone of the Center, and oversees all administrative, financial and organizational responsibilities.
   
 
Director Emeritus
Jerome Gold, Ed.D, C.S.W., is Director Emeritus and co-founder of GCLI, and Professor Emeritus, CUNY, where he was Head, Division for Programs in Human Development. He is a graduate of Columbia University and the Gestalt Center for Psychotherapy & Training.
   
 
Adjunct Faculty
Robin Kupietz is a GCLI graduate, and Faculty member. She was formerly on the Executive Staff and Senior Trainer of the Center. She maintains a private psychotherapy and supervision practice in Westchester and Manhattan.
   
Sam Kupietz, Ph.D., a GCLI graduate, is a Faculty member, as well as a certified Ericksonian hypnotherapist. His private supervision and psychotherapy practice is in Manhattan and Westchester.
   
Kenneth Meyer, Ph.D, is GCLI co-founder and former Training Program Director. He is a GCLI Faculty member and teaches at several other Gestalt institutes. His supervision and psychotherapy practice is in Greenlawn, LI and NYC.
